This training will enhance the knowledge of health-care providers to provide a comprehensive tobacco cessation counseling services.
The purpose of this program is to engage all non-clinician Commissioned Officers of the US Public Health Service and the general public in the fight against tobacco.
This turnkey, tailored tobacco cessation curriculum was designed for faculty members to utilize in the classroom with their respiratory therapy students.
Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States, and research indicates that clinicians can have an important impact on their patients’ ability to quit. Despite the direct link between tobacco use and morbidity and mortality, health professional schools have historically failed to integrate tobacco cessation into their curricula. This 6-hour train-the-trainer program (three 2-hr sessions), is designed to equip faculty at health professional schools with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement Rx for Change in the classroom.
